Registration will be held ONLINE on a first come, first serve basis. We will NOT be holding a lottery. Online Registration for classes will open at 8pm on Monday, March 25th.

- Payments are due at time of registration.
- Please do not register for more than 3 classes per student. All your classes will be voided if registration is for 4 or more classes/child. You will have an opportunity to register for additional classes after 3/29 if spots are available.
- Limited financial aid will be available for those who qualify for free or reduced lunch. If possible, please register online and pay the full amount. You will be refunded the financial aid amount immediately after approval. Other arrangements can also be made by contacting Margarita at mgarcia@holahoboken.org
- Please be careful when registering. If you need to cancel a class, you must cancel on or before 3/29. You will be refunded the amount of the class less a $25 administrative fee for each class. No refunds or credits will be issued on or after 3/30.
Important Information:
- If your aftercare or enrichment account is past due, your child will not be able to participate in enrichment classes. Please settle your account ASAP.
- Please take note of varying pick-up times and off-site pick-up locations.
- Enrichment classes end at HoLa at 3:45 or 4:00 so please pick up your child(ren) promptly at that time.
Children remaining at school 10 minutes after enrichment dismissal will be enrolled in aftercare and a $25 fee incurred (payable at the time of pick-up via Paypal, check, or credit card). - Pick-up for Cooking will be at The Little Grocery, 214 Jefferson Street at 4:00pm (SHARP)
- Pick-up for Sports Clinic will be at The Multi Service Center, 124 Grand Street at 4:00pm (SHARP)
- Pick-up for Sewing and Bricks for Kids will be at The Monroe Center, 720 Monroe Street at 4:15pm (SHARP)
- Students enrolled in aftercare will be escorted back to HoLa by an aftercare instructor

ILLUSTRATION WORKSHOP EN ESPAÑOL: All Grades – 3:00-3:45 –Sr. Galloza – ($75), 15 student
This course will broaden the scope of the Elements of Art practical application and to introduce a practical approach to the Principles of Design: Still Life, Human / Wildlife Portrait, Perspective Essentials, Landscape, Seascape Sketching, Reverse Rendering, are among the areas in which the child will enhance existing skills and explore a diversity of techniques to achieve an Illustration that pleases children expectancies. The course will emphasize on strengthening self-confidence and to guide children to develop hand control and visual perception to translate any idea into a graphic illustration.
CHESS (Intermediate): All Grades – 3:00-4:00PM – School Plus Hudson – ($180), 10 students
It is a well known fact that chess develops intelligence. And what is intelligence if not the ability to solve problems? In our chess classes, children learn to play the game and discover that the techniques used to analyze chess situations can also be used, to grapple with puzzling questions in school and real life. Step by step, children learn various strategical and tactical moves in chess, beginnings and endgames. Students in intermediate and advanced groups learn various combinations featuring queen sacrifices, double attacks, discovered checks, and many other useful tactical elements, or just quiet moves that eliminate the opponent’s potential flight squares. Children play the game in every class, against each other and the instructor. Our classes are taught by a team of experienced professional chess coaches, lead by the International Chess Master, Lev Khariton
MATH PLAY: Grades K-1 – 3:00-4:00PM – Nicole Imthurn, private Math tutor – ($180), 10 students
Designed for the younger set, Math Play taps into your child’s innate creativity and playfulness. Kids really do “get it” better when abstract Math concepts are enriched by play. Kid’s in the class get to mess around with the abstract Math concepts of counting, estimation, measurement, geometry, problem solving and logical thinking through creative hands-on activities, games , and puzzles.
KEYBOARDING (Typing Lessons): Grade-4 – 3:00-3:45PM – Marta Pizarro – ($80), 12 students
This course is an introduction to typing. The students will learn the home row keys, top row keys, and bottom row keys with fun interactive lessons. This course will help students learn to type without looking at the keyboard while enhancing speed accuracy and efficiency.
SIGN LANGUAGE: (Beginner) ALL GRADES– 3:00-4:00PM –Gabriella Avila– ($85), 12 students
This course promotes fun while teaching students American Sign Language (ASL) & Spanish through music, stories and language acquisition techniques. This course introduces students to the process and structure of the language and provides basic skills necessary to use the language. Students’ expressive (signing) and receptive (comprehension) skills are enhanced by understanding ASL.
SPORTS CLINIC EN Español: All Grades – 3:00-4:00PM – Sr. Oscar–($60), 15 students
Improve your motor skills and play your favorite sport like a pro, kids will work on agility, speed, endurance, strength, flexibility, and will practice some sports and games. There will be no competitive games in this class, just fun!
TUESDAY (10 classes held on: 4/9, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14, 5/21, 5/28, 6/4, 6/11)
SECRET AGENT LAB & DETECTIVE SCIENCE: All Grades – 3:00-3:45 –Mad Science – ($160), 12 students.
Discover how science is used to solve real crimes! Watch as the classroom is transformed into a crime lab for this exciting exploration of the fundamentals of forensics. Children will even take home their very own Child Identification Kit. It’s so much fun, it’s criminal!
PUERTORICAN CARNIVAL MASK MAKING: GRADES 2-4 – 3:00-3:45 –SR. GALLOZA – ($75), 10 students
In many carnivals, masks are key ingredients of the public spectacle. Although introduced by Spanish settlers, the customs of the island’s carnival, like mask making, music, and public performance, have developed into uniquely Puerto Rican traditions that also reflect the customs and sensibilities of Puerto Rico’s African ancestry. Children will explore masks and parade traditions in Carnival and other holiday celebrations. Students will make masks that represent Puerto Rican and other Caribbean cultures, then create a mini-celebration to help the children understand the reasons behind certain celebrations.
YOGA EN ESPAÑOL: GRADES K-2 – 3:00-3:45 ––MiMi Kids Yoga ($180), 12 students.
MiMi Kids Yoga is absolutely thrilled to be returning to HoLa with our Yoga En Espanol program! Yoga En espanol director Ilsi Molina will enhance your child’s growing knowledge of Spanish while guiding them through an exciting and interactive yoga class. This class is guaranteed to increase your child’s strength, flexibility and posture through fun and challenging posed like Warrior 1/2/3, crow and handstand (just to name a few).. Don’t miss the opportunity to provide all of these amazing benefits to your child!
CHESS: Beginner: All Grades – 3:00-4:00PM – School Plus Hudson – ($180), 10 students
For complete beginners and those who have had some exposure to chess before. Step by step, children learn how pieces move, various strategic and tactical moves, beginnings and endgames. Theoretical knowledge is supported through games. Children play every class, against each other and the instructor. Taught by an experienced professional chess coach (current USCF rating is 1993).
SOCCER SKILLS EN ESPAÑOL: All Grades – 3:00-4:00PM – Sr. Oscar–($60), 15 students
Sr. Oscar will create a non competitive environment where players can love, enjoy and succeed at the game of soccer. This is achieved through a balanced curriculum of fun, games and challenging experiences. Children will learn the joy of soccer & skills that will allow them to reach their full potential as soccer players. *CHILDREN NEED TO BRING A SOCCER BALL*
HOLA SWIM CLINIC AT THE SKY CLUB: Grades K-1 – 4:00-4:45pm & Grades 2-4 – 4:45-5:30pm – ($166)
This course is independently run by Sky Club Aquatics. See attached sheet for more information. *THIS CLASS WILL NOW BE HELD TWICE A WEEK, Parents are responsible for bringing children to and from the Sky Club on Tues. & Thurs.)*
WEDNESDAY (10 classes held on: 4/10, 4/17, 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29, 6/5, 6/12)
GUITAR: Grades 1-4 – 3:00-4:00 – Sr. Sanfiel – ($150), 8 students
Beginners learn the basic right and left-hand techniques including chords, strums, and single note patterns, as well as easy songs. Written and ear approaches will be used. At the intermediate level, students will improve their current level of playing and advance into new areas of neck. Theory and lead guitar will be introduced in a variety of styles. Students must bring their own guitar.
CREATIVE WRITING: Grades 1-4 – 3:00-4:00 – SchoolPlus Hudson ($180), 12 students
Creative Writing: This class will delve into the imagination of students through the writing of poems, plays and short stories. Using writing prompts and exercises, students will develop methods of story-telling and language skills that will explore their own creativity and further their love and understanding of English. Students will work on improving their vocabulary and grammar skills while transferring characters and worlds from their imagination onto the page. In a fun, rewarding, and encouraging environment, students will grow their abilities to communicate through the written word.
AVIATION: All Grades - 3:00-3:45 – Hobby Quest ($165), 15 students
Through this course, each student will learn about the elementary history, physics and properties of flight. Each student will produce at least two model airplanes from scratch. Cleaning and organization is an essential portion of the course. The program will conclude outdoors where we set our gliders in motion and fly our models!
SUPER YOGI’S!!: Grades 3-4- 3:00-3:45 – Rashila,Yoga Instructer ($160), 12 students
Yoga for all you supermen, wonder women and Xmen !! Let’s explore the journey of our mind and body together as one union! We’ll transform ourselves to super yogi’s ! Our magic powers will allow us to twist, bend, fold and extend our bodies whilst the heart always remains big in LOVE & COMPASSION and open to those who need our help! Children will be learning on sequences that will engage a specific action figure that Instructor will be working on that week!

Hip-Hop: All Grades – 3:00-4:00 –Derrick Ladson – ($140), 20 students
Hip Hop is an explosive, funky dance style that combines memory, coordination, rhythm games, and loads of energetic FUN! Derrick, an award-winning choreographer for The Hoboken High Theatre Program, will choreograph routines and teach the fundamentals of this funky dance style without sacrificing the joy of dance or the thrill of being a “hip” kid!
CRAZY CHEMWORKS: All Grades – 3:00-3:45 –Mad Science – ($160), 12 students
Shake up a flask of fun in the lab as a junior chemist! These classes are packed solid with cool reactions. Students will change liquids to solids and back again; handle laboratory tools, build and break molecules; and pick up some tricks on chemical changes.
jOURNEY tHROUGH aRt history: All Grades- School Plus Hudson – ($180), 12 students
This class will be an exploration of pivotal art movements and famous artists using a variety of media such as painting, sculpture, mosaic, and ceramics to create our own works of art. Every lesson is designed to expose students to new art techniques and concepts while challenging them to think creatively and develop new skills.
SEWING: Grades 2-4 – 3:15-4:15 – Megan Avery, M Avery Designs – ($160), 8 students
Sew accessories, stuffed animals and clothes by hand, and by sewing machine (highly supervised). Students will learn to cut fabric from a pattern as well as how to properly thread a needle and a sewing machine. Each class is project-oriented and students will leave with finished projects. This is not a continuation of last trimester’s class. Students will be escorted to Sewing after school by an aftercare instructor. Parents are responsible for pick-up at M Avery Designs, 720 Monroe Street E306, at 4:15pm (SHARP).
COOKING at The Little Grocery: Grades 2-4 – 3:00-4:00pm –Parent Neamet Elsayed – ($135), 10 students
Let’s get into the kitchen at The Little Grocery for some culinary instruction and a whole lot of fun! This class will get kids excited about creating food and being in the kitchen while mixing in a sprinkling of math, science, reading and art! Students will be escorted to Little Grocery after school by an aftercare instructor. Parents are responsible for picking children up at The Little Grocery, 214 Jefferson Street, at 4pm (SHARP).
BRICKS FOR KIDZ: Grades K-1 – 3:15-4:15 – ($160), 20 students
This class will explore architecture, engineering and technology using Lego bricks. Each week, a new project will be built based on engaging themes such as space, inventions, famous buildings, energy and more. Students will be escorted to Bricks after school by an aftercare instructor. Parents are responsible for pick-up at Bricks for Kidz, 720 Monroe Street, E505, at 4:15pm (SHARP).
HOLA SWIM CLINIC AT THE SKY CLUB: Grades K-1 – 4:00-4:45 & Grades 2-4 – 4:45-5:30 – ($166)

MAGICAL MYSTERIES: ALL GRADES- 3:00-3:45 – Hobby Quest ($165), 15 students
Master the mysteries of magic! Learn all the secrets to becoming a real practicing magician, from tricky transformations to amazing mind reading, and show them off in your very own magic show! We’ll learn the secrets of the Changing Bag, the Magic Stick, the Mummy Mystery, the Versa Deck, the Color Vision Dice trick, and finally the Chameleon Chip.
THE ART IN MATH : Grades 2-4 – 3:00-4:00 – Nicole Imthurn, private Math tutor – ($180), 10 students
Fold fractions into origami, feel geometry in sculpture. Mathematical concepts are reinforced through active, hands-on learning ,in addition to the standard pencil and paper math work. Number computation, spatial sense, measurement, statistics, and problem solving are demonstrated through art. (Oh, and your child will make a Chinese abacus, bring it home and teach you how to use it. How cool is that!)
BAILA CON SALSA y MAS!: ALL GRADES – 3:00-4:00 –Alejandra Barerra Sapirstein- ($140), 15 students
HoLa Mom & Creative Grooves dance instructor Alejandra Sapirstein will have your child dancing Salsa, Cha Cha, Merengue, Swing Dance & more—in Spanish!! Dance and Music education is a vital part of a child’s development. Let’s continue to develop their artistic side and an appreciation for cultural dances! Vamos…y Baila Conmigo!!
