What makes Viridian Energy different from other energy suppliers?
We are a socially responsible Energy Company that provides greener electricity at affordable prices. Unlike our competitors who charge a premium for green, Viridian accepts a lower profit in order to make our product affordable to customers.
What are the benefits of choosing Viridian Energy as my electric supplier?
In addition to the savings to your monthly electric bill over time, we offer customers a unique way to help the environment. By enrolling in our service, you will be helping the environment without having to use less energy or pay higher bills because our energy is purchased from more renewable sources.
What is deregulation and what has it changed?
Prior to the 1990s, each state regulated its’ Electric Industry. The local Utility was responsible for transmission (delivery), distribution and generation (supply) of energy.
Under deregulation, your local Utility manages the delivery and distribution of energy, however, you can choose which company you would like to supply you your energy.
Will I have to purchase a new meter?
No. You keep your current meter. It will continue to be read by the Utility on the same cycle. Remember the transmission and distribution portion of your bill remains with your current Utility.
Who do I call if I have a problem with my service?
If you have any problems, you should contact the Utility. They remain responsible for the delivery of your energy, as well as any necessary maintenance and repairs.
If I switch, will my reliability be affected?
No. Viridian and all other Energy Suppliers are just as reliable as the Utility. All electricity providers, including Viridian, are monitored and licensed by the Utility Commission or responsible authority in your state.
How will I be billed?
You will continue to receive one monthly bill from your Utility with charges for your usage, service and delivery.
How do I enroll?
You can enroll online or over the phone. Viridian will need your contact information and the Utility Identification Code found on your current Utility bill. It’s that simple!
Can I cancel my service with Viridian at any time?
Yes. If you are not satisfied with your service at Viridian, you can return to your local Utility or another provider of your choice. Please notify us if you wish to cancel your Viridian service; customercare@viridian.com or call Customer Service at 1-866-663-2508
How does Viridian reduce my monthly bills?
Deregulation allows Electricity Suppliers like Viridian to buy energy wholesale from competitive providers and pass the savings on to their customers. By providing the only the supply of energy, not the distribution or delivery eliminates the operational costs that often burden Utilities.
Does it cost anything to enroll?
There are no enrollment or cancellation fees, just a 49 cent monthly Administration fee.
I am moving to a new apartment/home and would like Viridian to be my electricity provider, but don’t have my Utility Account Number yet. How can I enroll?
In order to enroll you must have an active and valid Account Number. It isn’t necessary to have a copy of your bill, but you must have your Utility Identification/Account Number, which you can obtain by calling the Utility. Your account must be active and the electricity turned on.
I am a current customer moving to a new apartment/home within my current Utility territory. Will I remain enrolled with Viridian as my Electricity Supplier?
This varies by Utility. Please contact your Utility for more information.
What is a monthly variable rate and how is it different from a fixed rate?
A monthly variable rate changes according to the market price of electricity. A fixed rate allows you to pay the same rate for a fixed period of time regardless of the market price. Our variable rate is lower than the Utility because the price of energy has gone down and we are able to pass the savings onto you.
